22.1 What is "Time Management Dilemma"?
A dilemma in managing tasks occurs when an individual is having time limitation while many tasks at hand need to be performed and done. Time limitation leads the individual unable to be productive with clarity of the tasks' significance. We will discuss on four tools to effectively be productive in the said situation.
22.2.1 Understand the Tasks' Significance
The first and foremost is to understand the significance of the tasks at hand. For each of the task, these pre-requisite questions need to be directed and clarified: What is the level of importance; How can it be performed and done; How will it not being performed and done impact you and key stakeholders?
22.2.2 Be Selective in Perfection
As for perfectionists, time scrutiny is very inconvenient because they like to perform all tasks perfectly. The tool to combat perfection against time scrutiny is to be selective in performing perfection. Apply perfectionism to the task that matters the most. Follow-up later for the task that requires less meticulous attention.
22.2.3 Apply Time Provision
Provide time provision for all tasks. It is important to have a timeline view of the tasks to ensure they produce result. While a task may be allowed to be finished at a later time, time provided should not be excessive. Apply time provision effectively to be productive.
22.2.4 Communicate to the People
Tasks that involve people require communication, which is justified by the expectation they set on you. Do communicate to the people, be it higher-power people or lower-power people, on your tasks at hand. Communicate with clarity and simplicity for easy understanding. Communicating effectively will promote the sense of trust, and allows better time management for all people.
